Memorial Day

Hello Sunshines! This is the long weekend, a celebration of
Memorial Day.

What does Memorial Day mean to you? Three days off! Bar-b-que? Fun with family and friends?

Please remember that our military will not be with their family this weekend. Nor will  they have any days off to celebrate. They will be working through the holiday, for you and me! The fallen will be remembered by their families and friends.

I hope that everyone remembers Memorial Day and all the days in between, our fallen soldiers, men and women, who work, fight, live everyday for us to be free! They are separated from their families for very long periods of time, men and women, children, husbands, wives and family.

Please remember each day you are able to do what you wish, to say anything, to go anywhere, to do anything.

Be thankful and grateful for our military, as they work so very hard everyday at sometimes a thankless job so we can be free. The quiet, behind the scene heroes!

Remember to say thank you to our Veterans, thank you so "I, you, we"can be free.

There is a special place in my heart for the Air Force and all the military core.  I worked with them for almost three decades! Such hard working, dedicated, loyal people to friends and family. You will never find such love of country!

Cherish them, honor them. Say thank you! Teach your children to respect them! They are the ultimate givers! Hugs Kat =^.^=

Update on the Middle of the Night Lawn Fertilizer Frenzy!

Good morning Sunshines! Well I have posted an update to the mid of the night lawn fertilizing I did a few weeks ago here.

Lots of tips and tricks and info I hope will help you too! BUT if you know of any other neat things to try, more on the natural side, with the lawn and plants, please let me know!

I already follow Jerry Baker and just love him! He is fun to watch too! Quite the comedian! Here is some great advice on veggie gardening, which I do in containers!

If you get a chance, please stop by You Tube and check out his other videos! You will learn how really simple it is to take care of a lawn yourself and play in the dirt! FUN!

I am so trying to keep up with my neighbor's beautiful perfectly green lawn! Wish me luck! I love playin in the dirt! :) hugs Kat =^.^=

PS my poppies are blooming, lovely colors and the wind is blowing today and hopefully will not beat them down and break their long stalks again! :(

Library Chairs ReDo Fini!

Sunshines! Happy Thursday! I finally have my Library chairs back from the upholsterer!

WOW is all I can say, I cried, they are just so much more beautiful in person! It took a few days longer but I didn't mind that at all! As you can see, it was well worth the wait don't you think! :)

They are quaint, inviting, beautiful, lovely and amazing! Loads of character and texture that beckon you to sit and curl up with a good book!

The dark vintage-look green velvet fabric is gorgeous, and the creamy taupe brown brocade on the back of the chairs match the couch, which was a last minute decision. All three turned out just beautiful! This upholsterer is truly an artist with fabric!

I am a one very lucky lady! I took many pictures through my tears of joy! I hope you enjoy them!

Please pardon my dust, wires, stuff in the background! :)

So here goes, my Library Chairs ReDo Fini!

When I removed the seat cushion, I found three little velvet covered buttons waiting to be found! What a cute surprise! So neat and tidy, these little ladies are dressed to the "nines!" :)

The couch was a very last minute decision for me. I wanted something fresh and more chic in my Library, going for the comfortable English look, so the garden cover really needed to retire. So glad I was able to have this completed as well! I am thrilled!

This couch was purchased many years ago at a consignment store. I think it was almost a Calico Corners type of couch where the couch itself is all white and they make you a custom cover. I was smitten and could hardly contain myself at that store!

As the sales lady and I opened the hide-a-bed, I noticed that the mattress still had the tag, so it was relatively new, and possibly came from a model home.

I love this couch and will keep it forever! This is an all down couch. Extremely comfy!

I can't wait to get the rest of this particular room completed. Factor in I am also working on the kitchen as well. Needless to say it will be quite the challenge and a very busy summer, but so worth it.

So many ideas, so little time, not enough sleep! Am I the only one? I have seemed to make a mess in each room, but what fun! :)

I will be linking up to a few parties as promised this weekend! Have a wonderful rest of the week!

The room is all painted, a lovely satin white, so clean, the built in bookshelves will be next with a surprise! Another post! Then furniture placement and final pictures. Ultimately I am hoping that both the kitchen and library will be done close to the same time! One can only hope! :)

Thank you for coming along with me on this decorating frenzy! I promise it will be fun! Hugs Kat =^.^=

UPDATE UPDATE - Krazy Person, Full Moon, Just Plain Hysterical!

Hello Sunshines, well I just "fed" the lawn! at 1030PM! Because the WIND finally stopped blowing for a minute or two!

Well anyone driving by, hum, what can I say! Think a double take and a slow down, I was laughing! It's the middle of the night people!!!!! And?........................:)Well!.................................here we go again! What's a girl to do!!!!! ")

The beauty of a Moon is Full or almost (ok ok 95% full! WHATEVER! :) lol, so out I went! bucket in hand!

Not a really good before pic (this was taken in the daytime! haha) but I will take an after in a few days to see if this "magic" stuff really works! :) And report back! Name of product pending! :)

Ta Ta Ta Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa do you feel anxiety, wanting to know "What the heck did she use! Will it work? Who took pictures of this krazy lady in the middle of the night and posted it on YouTube!?" What was SHE THINKING!? or better yet! WHEN are the people with the WHITE COATS coming?"

Aren't you JUST a little curious!................. Well, ya have to wait! :) So there! :)

I have been waiting for three days to get this stuff on the ground but the 30 mph GUSTING up to 35mph just wouldn't stop! Boo hooooooooooooooooooooo! So..........

Krazy? Yep, but what the heck!

I am, after all, RETIRED! and all of us OLDIES are KRAZY! I guess :) and can do WHAT we want WHEN we want! LOL

Film at 1100pm! LOL or in a few! :) hugs Kat =^.^= (wish me luck I didn't burn the whole thing!!!!)

UPDATE UPDATE:
Well, it has been a few weeks since I threw gypsum on my lawn.
It looks a little better but not as good as I expected.  The wind here is awful, and I call it the hair dryer effect! Just drys everything down to the bone and it is very hard to water with these conditions.

Years ago and now I follow Jerry Baker, master gardener for K-Mart. He has just lovely books and utilizes his grandma's recipes for the garden.

When the phosphorus was in the liquid dish soap, I would pour a cheap bottle in the
miracle grow fertilizer container and spray away, bubbles everywhere, nuts, but it worked as it opened up the ground to accept water much better. I didn't have to water as much even in triple digit weather here! It was wonderful.

NOTE: Miracle Grow is the best out there for everything in your yard, your herbs, containers, everything. It is a foliar feed as well. It is the best product and I have used it for over 40 years! Wow am I OLD! LOL

Now since that chemical is removed, I had to find something else so the water wouldn't run off. Gypsum is supposed to do the same thing, I did two applications, but will do again when it cools off, directions are once in the spring and once in the winter to prepare the ground.

I think I waited too long, was trying for a calm day! Anyway I will use it again this winter along with nitrogen, which does the green up stuff. There is a numbers ratio for all fertilizers, here is how you figure out what you require and at what time of year.

For example, I cannot use 16-20-0 in the summer because it will burn up a lawn almost immediately. 16-20-0 is also good to throw down on the dirt before you lay sod. I think I know why I have added to my back issues! :)

Anyway Gypsum  is like talcum powder consistency but waters in well with the hose. I do think it helped a little but I am a little disappointed.  Gypsum is available at most garden centers and Home Depot and Lowe's as well, and is very inexpensive.

You might want to try it, it is safer than some fertilizers.  So here are the after photos! :) hugs Kat =^.^=

3 Must Have When Painting

Good morning Sunshines! I recycle everything I can at least once, especially Plastic!

I used this tool to clean not only my paint brushes, but the roller as well, factor in you can also Spackle the walls with it and remove various small nails with it, it is an invaluable tool to have in one's tool stash! It is made by Warner Tools.

When I got done cleaning my paint roller, it was dripping water, so I just dropped it in this ice tea drink cup! When the brush is dry, pour out the little water in the bottom! Wa La!  Instant air dry, no stickies on the roller and it is ready to utilize once again!

I soak my brushes in another plastic container just up to the metal, I add a little dish soap and warm water to keep them soft, and if I need to keep them in water for a few days, then I change out the water and add just a smidgen of fabric softener to the water, it will keep them conditioned.

Anyway, sharing my tips, they work for me! Hugs and have a wonderful day! Kat =^.^=

PS Getting a post ready for Part II of the Kitchen ReDo! Pictures Paint Perfect! :)

I Wonder.......

I wonder…
I wonder if anyone will ever know me…
The me that…
Likes early morning hours the best, when the birds sing, when it is quiet, when the air is still
Likes to play in the water on the front grass, and look at the newly born flowers, one by one
Likes to water them and take pictures of their progress day by day
Likes to smile, giggle and notice the new blooms that surprise me now and then….
I wonder if anyone will ever know me, the real me……and my simple pleasures…….
I wonder…..
