.............working along this weekend in my newly " being re-designed " craft/sewing studio......I also realized that I am somewhat of a magazine freak!......not gonna mention the books.....well...ok I will............book lover .......its a paper thing......i just know it!.......and it apparently runs in the fam! lol
.............I have been going through them........the mags...........tossing and tearing.....................lol....but not the books..............libraries are closing more days than open due to budget cuts.............I feel for those that like to spend time in there.......
......reading.........researching............touching the lovely books................and I dont know about you..............but give me a day in an old smelly book store.........................anytime........its just the smell of history I guess................
...............I grew up in Los Angeles, California...................when I was little...............my friend and I would "walk" to the "library" then get lunch and walk home!................yes in "those" days one could walk all over........................
...........well I would always come home with two or three or whatever I could carry..................hence my love of books.......mostly all books.......actually from the age of five i have just loved books...............yes it is a sickness I guess.............but there is........nothing like a chilly evening...by the fire........
........in your fave library chair.............with a cozy blanket and a cuppa tea.....................and a great book!..or five by your side......................oh the still of the night........................very calming................and peaceful.......................wouldn't you agree......................:)........
.....i will be doing a lot of that this winter for sure.............
....this is just "one" of my bookshelves............lol
........as you can see...........the plan is to "drape the bookcases" ...and apparently i am loving a little pink in there so.......I..also ..have my stash of starch for my fabrics...............cannot seem to find the old fashioned "liquid starch"......... though......anyone find it online?.........
.............the "owl" is there in honor of my Mother...........she was always the "wise ol owl".....and loved owls too.......lots of stories about my Mom and the Owl! ........my sis and I talk about the "owl" all the time................:)
......someday i will share some of them.........................so im getting back to it..........had to take a break....................you have a wonderful day!...........hugs =^.^=

DeleteOh, Kat. We have a lot in common. I moved major pounds of books and magazines from Iowa to Boulder City in 2003. And I moved the same pounds of books plus many more pounds from Boulder City to Florida. Since I plan on downsizing and moving late fall, I am doing the same thing as you - sorting and tearing. NO books will go. Interestingly, some of the magazines I have no longer appeal to my taste. Those were easy to let go. Of course, I have filled my shelves with many new magazines since moving here. Kind of fun going through them, isn't it.
ReplyDeleteI will be selling most of my furniture. Will have a smaller place, and can't wait. I am so sick of a large house and keeping it clean. It's a good time to reevaluate my crap . . . oops . . . treasures, and edit.

oh ellie yes we do! and i am laughing and giggling out loud! thank you! we have had thunder and boomies all day and flash flooding.......actually it was just wonderful! the ground needed it BUT maybe not THAT much! lol oh well for the next few days too! love this weather.....you take care......yes....i am doing the same thing as you today.......taking it a bit easy! enjoying looking through all of my crap......oops yes .......our treasures! lol hugs =^.^=

Hi there.....yes not so much busy stuff when they are covered a little..too many colors show in the room.......but....I remember seeing on an English blog I think, sadly cannot remember which one!, that she put "linen" across the top of each shelf, they were called "dust covers" for the "top" of the books! so when I make them I will post on how to.....I am going to use a small thin pressure rod in between the two ends of the case so I can easily remove for cleaning and do one on each shelf :) hugs kat =^.^-=
