Lady Lucy Bones!

Good morning Sunshines! Happy Tuesday! The above pictures are of a skull, decorated with such imagination, it amazes me every time I look at it! Miss Lucy also has a very unique "story" that goes along with her, poor thing!

Aptly named, "Lady Lucy Bones," this original creation is just one of many many beautiful creations by our artists here in town and also Henderson and Las Vegas.

Faye, this particular artist extraordinaire, has participated in this "silent auction" each year and I will try and get a picture of "John," last years creation by Faye, also SO amazing! He had a top hat and quite an interesting face!

The artist will pick up a white skull and then go to town creating.  They are all so very unique and it is interesting to see what their interpretation and final outcome become.

Recently Faye took me to meet Chris at The Corner Gallery and I heard all about the festivities coming up and for such a good cause too!

I will be going back soon to take more pictures of this lovely artsy Gallery! WOW, the art, the sculptures, the paintings, design!

If you ever visit our quaint little town, please please be sure to stop over to see the Gallery and say hi to Chris!

This is a MUST SEE in Boulder City for sure! There are many local artists that show there and it changes every day! Plan to "browse" and stay for a while!

The Corner Gallery, located at 1325 Arizona Street, Boulder City NV 89005, (702) 501-9219 supports "Family Promise" of Las Vegas each year in October.

From The Corner Gallery flyer, "Each year this Gallery has a silent auction that takes place in October, supporting Family Promise.

The skulls are decorated by local artists and anyone that wishes to participate, and donated back for this cause.

Family Promise partners with faith houses and community organizations and assists families of Clark County to transition from homelessness to stability and independence through compassionate shelter, guidance and education.

The Corner Gallery event will culminate in a "Day of the Dead" observance this Friday, October 28, 2011 at 6:30pm.

Highest bidder will be announced and skulls will go to their new owners. Live entertainment and psychic readings will be happening and you can bring your favourite Mexican food for the potluck too!"

For more information about Family Promise programs, you can visit their website  here.
Their address is PO Box 270128, Las Vegas NV 89117-4128 (702) 638-8806.

Enjoy your day Sunshines! Hugs Kat =^.^=

He gifted me some of his beautiful pieces last year at Christmas, and I cannot wait to decorate the yard in December!

HELP!

Hi Sunshines! well I have been at it for two days now, cleaning the shed out back! I installed my shelving units (just had to put them together, got to use a really big hammer! LOL) and get some stuff organized!

It's a really nice shed, it came with the house so someday I want to turn it into a little reading area, with a couple of windows for ventilation! Maybe a little screen door!

I had a garden mirror and it is so sunny here I was afraid to put it in the garden for fear of reflection on something or someone!! So I just set it up on the work shelf! I also dropped an extra piece of white board there to work on, it's a nice surface for that. I do have a couple of wood shelves, but will have to get help someday putting them up! Kat's little play house! We'll see! A girl can dream !!:)

I am pooped and stinky!! So here are some pics of the garden, hope you enjoy! Cause I'm off to the shower and do my nails and just rest! I got SO much done! I am happy Kat today!  Even though it was 94 deg today in October!! WOW

The Clematis are blooming! The most beautiful purple blooms!

I thought that this bougainvillea died last winter, it was SO cold, down in the high 20's at times even in the desert, I tried to cover it and really thought it was a goner, BUT it came back with a fury this summer, the color is so vivid!

The red geranium! I love them! So did my Mom. This little one has had a hard time with the heat this year, 117 deg on the patio one week, THAT was a wild week!

If you know me at all, I'm big on yard art! I love it! I think it adds just a touch of whimsy to the garden, even if most of it at this house in the backyard is concrete! It is a lot of work caring for my plants here, I think it is much hotter here in my quaint little town!

Here is the last set of something I find very interesting this year for some reason. I've been watching how the yard changes, since this is my year of firsts here, these particular pictures reflect a lot of change over the summer, especially out back! There are some railroad ties there standing on end, and a bunch of wood in the copper outdoor fireplace just waiting for that match!

I honestly can hardly wait for the cooler evenings, so I can sit out there, with a nice fire and some hot chocolate and a blanket!

I hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday and rest of the week! I'll be back soon! Hugs Kat =^.^=

I just love the texture of this wood! It is aged, the patina is lovely, sure does add a lot of character, just this little bit of it!

I hope you have a great weekend! Here are a couple of Halloween pics and some decor too! Luv Kat =^.^=

Now I must find all the Halloween goodies for the door and the little ones that will visit me very soon, he he he he heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I do my best work, in the late hour, in the dark of the moon!

Well. it was delis!!! :)
